NarrativeAt 9:30 a.m. on May 29, 2019, an agricultural laborer was working among a field crew of 21 laborers who were walking among the furrows of a farm plot planted with tomato plants. The work crew were assigned to remove weeds and excess vegetation that was growing near the plants prior to the scheduled watering. The employee lost consciousness and collapsed while performing weeding activities. The employee died at the scene from a medical condition.

NarrativeAt 7:00 a.m. on May 14, 2019, employees were in their break area preparing to begin their shift when they were exposed to ammonia vapor from a leaking anhydrous ammonia pipe on the roof of an adjacent refrigerated warehouse. Six employees were treated for irritation to the eyes and throat.
