NarrativeEmployee #1 was operating a knuckle joint mechanical power press. Employee #1 wa s stamping a series of commemorative Harley Davidson coins. The press operates i n single stroke mode and is a partial revolution, pneumatic clutch type machine. Employee #1 stated that he had been operating the press with no problems and it had been functioning properly in single stroke mode. Employee #1 stated that he had completed a press cycle and when he reached into the press to remove a coin it cycled and crushed part of his right hand. Employee #1 had the middle and ri ng fingers amputated and his index finger was fractured requiring surgery.
