The Distilleries industry is experiencing greater than average employment growth as of late. In 2014 the government estimated a total of 10,579 workers, then just 12 months later it had climbed to 11,075, an increase of 4.69%. With OSHA reported accident rates of less than that of the the Beverage Manufacturing Industry as a whole, things have been relatively safe over the past five years.

NarrativeOn February 15, 2014, Employee #1, the Bottling Supervisor, of Modern Spirits LLC dba Greenbar Distillery, was overseeing production in the bottling room when he noticed some bottles leaving the Bertolaso Lambda Corking Machine, (Model Number 248.820) without corks. Without deenergizing the corking machine, he reached his hand up into the corking head and attempted to remove a cork that was jammed. When the next bottle on the line approached the corking head, it crushed two of his fingertips on his right hand. Employee #1 was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated for the amputation and later released.

NarrativeAt approximately 8 a.m., on May 6, 2013, Employee #1 of Yaegaki Corporation USA, sustained a serious injury while attempting to un-jam rice from the small rice crusher. Employee #1 stuck his hand into the crusher without de-energizing it, resulting in a crushing injury to two fingers of his right hand. Two of his fingers were caught in a pinch point and crushed as a result.
